Recently I came across this product, Muscle Blaze High Protein Cereal and I thought of sharing some pros and cons about this product with you guys. So I have written this. Hope this review helps you decide whether to consume this product or not.
Product name: Muscle Blaze High Protein Cereal
Category: Breakfast Cereal
Ready to eat cereals are convenient and tasty. It is one of the most common cause of obesity in the US today.
Take a look at ingredients
They claim no added sugar but in wheat flakes the 2nd ingredient is sugar. What is the need for sugar in wheat flakes? It contains malt extract which is similar to sugar but has some beneficial effect in the intestine.
Black raisin is 4th in the list which is low in calorie. Low in calorie means they have added very little black raisins in cereal because 100 g black raisins provide 300 Kcal. Similarly if it is less in quantity how will it provide you with iron, potassium and magnesium where 100 g raisins provide 16% potassium, 14% iron and 9% magnesium.
They claim it is rich in protein and this is true. Soyabean is good source of protein. 100 g of soyabean contains 36 g of protein. When this cereal is consumed with milk, quality and quantity of protein is improved.
It is also rich in fiber as oats are good source of fiber. Oats contain both insoluble and soluble fiber which adds bulk to the meal.
It also contains artificially added colour, flavour and class II preservative.
Consumption of food containing artificial colour and flavour over a long period of time can cause cancer. Some food additives are most likely to cause allergic reactions in sensitive people.
Bottom Line:
It is okay to consume this cereal occasionally, but not daily. There are many other healthier options to consume without spending much time in cooking like rajgira with milk, dal chilla, egg, smoothie, dry fruits.
